Risk and Compliance Officer

In this newly created role, we are looking for a Risk and Compliance Officer to come and support the Group Compliance Manager with the implementation and management of Metcash’s Compliance Framework, ensuring that the business is implementing processes and controls to manage its ongoing compliance obligations. This role will also have responsibility for certain components of Metcash’s AML/CTF Program.

**What you'll do**:

- Support the development, implementation and management of an integrated approach for Metcash to ensure it is aware of and is effectively managing its compliance obligations.
- Assist with monitoring the external environment for regulatory developments and determine impact (if any) on Metcash.
- Support with operationalizing new compliance obligations with assistance of first line.
- Assist with administering the Group wide Compliance Obligations Register with systems and process for ongoing review.
- As required assist with undertaking compliance reviews to ensure business areas are effectively meeting compliance obligations.
- Conduct Know-Your-Customer (KYC) assessments for new customer loan activities, including risk assessments and documentation.
- Support leadership efforts to update and mature Metcash’s framework and practices for identifying and managing risks that could materially impact Metcash’s objectives (financial, strategic, and operational).
- Support Group P&C with administering AML/CTF Compliance training.
- Assist with the review of operational risk incidents, root cause identification and control remediation. Assist the Group Head and Risk Leader with ad-hoc tasks as required.
- Build, maintain and enhance relations with Pillar and Function heads and their management teams for the smooth implementation of compliance activities across the organization.

**What you'll bring**:

- 2-5 years’ experience in Compliance practice in an ASX wholesale distribution, retail or supply chain business would be desirable, or similar experience in a large complex corporate environment would be beneficial.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in AML compliance, preferably with KYC experience.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Law.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and systems, with experience working in a regulated environment.
- High energy and passion for excellence.
- Self-confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner.
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, including workshop facilitation experience.
- Ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.
- Effective negotiation experience.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create scenario plans.
