The Role

Due to continued growth and on-going project demand, we are seeking a talented Associate Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Consultant to deliver communication and engagement plans, activities, materials and tools to predominately support a significant renewables project in the start-up phase of the organisation, as well as providing support to the wider SMEC team with other projects.

Key responsibilities:

- Developing and delivering communication and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans for SMEC projects.
- Building community, stakeholder and client relationships.
- Supporting the wider business, in particular the Environment, Transport, Water, Planning and Energy groups with consultation services.
- Assisting in the development of proposals, new business ventures and marketing activities.
- With a track record of achievement in a related role, you ideally will have gained your experience working on major infrastructure projects for an engineering/design/construction consultancy or contractor and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.

Ideal applicants will have:

- Well-developed relationship building skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders.
- 9+ years’ demonstrated experience in communications and/or consultation with the most recent experience within infrastructure
- EIS engagement experience highly regarded
- Recognised degree or equivalent practical experience
- Experiencing delivering social impact/value management plans
- Sound understanding of IAP2 Public Participation practice and/or qualifications
- Experienced in managing day to day customer relations activities including consultation databases.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to effectively write, plan and execute engagement strategies
- Experience coordinating or participating in public events for both community members and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to spend time away from home to carry out in-field engagement.
