**The Role**

Indigenous News and Current Affairs (INACA) are currently looking for an Executive Editor for a full-time ongoing opportunity. The Executive Editor, INACA is responsible for overseeing the commissioning for all NITV news and current affairs platforms and requires a journalist with outstanding news judgement, decision making capacity, production skills and a full understanding of the unique resource requirements of television and online news.

We are looking for someone who can:

- Direct the cross-platform team that determines and delivers the daily requirements for all NITV News & Current Affairs programs, in consultation with the Executive Producer INACA Output and the Channel Manager of NITV.
- Assign stories with full knowledge of SBS’s & NITV editorial responsibilities, priorities and budgets, and ensure content of the highest professional standards.
- Ensure deadlines for breaking news coverage match the competitive position in the various platform markets
- Lead the strategic planning of news and current affairs events and stories, both domestically and internationally, which meet the remit of the SBS Charter and the goals & objectives of NITV
- Initiate the production of compelling and relevant content to an Australian audience that continues to evolve from Indigenous perspective
- Ensure coverage is not confined to breaking news but that also provides the depth and insight into significant issues for which NITV has become renowned.
- Lead and inspire key direct reports and have a deep understanding of domestic and Indigenous affairs from a current and historical perspective.
- Authorise expenditure within delegation and ensure that the input teams operate within the agreed budgets.
- Be a creative and lateral thinker who can also provide input into the broader strategic focus of NITV is critical for this position
- Ensure a collaborative and collegiate managerial style is maintained along with a core understanding of SBS’s & NITV values and cultural expectations
