Support Worker

We build our staff around the client, depending on each person’s needs and preferences. We partner with people with any type of disability and or mental health-related illnesses who want to live independently in the community, we are very passionate about making an impact, helping our participants reach their goals, and ensuring they’re living their best lives.

We have a client for whom we are looking for a specific type of support worker, the client has regular ongoing hours, with a roster available Monday-Saturday

**What we are looking for**:

- Female over 30
- Preferably someone who has experience dealing with participants who have complex mental health-related disabilities, and or is confident in their abilities to overcome complex behaviours through deflection and re-direction.
- A positive person who can help the client focus on goals. Someone who is confident in their abilities working with a client who is easily triggered and can re-direct, deflect and help the client through “triggered behaviours”
- An individual who is confident in their own abilities to understand the complexities of the ups and downs of someone with multiple mental and disability diagnoses, You would have the ability to Stay calm and be patient in any situation.
- Many people who are actively dealing with complex mental health can find others threatening, which can lead to agitation, and being calm and kind can go a long way to temper hostility and create an alliance.
- Someone who can help the client by encouraging them to take an active role in their mental health recovery, get out and see people and enjoy a healthy lifestyle
- Someone who can confidently set limits and let the client know what you can do for them and what you are not able to provide, setting personal and professional boundaries and adhering to them continuously.

**Highly desirable requests from the client**:

- Someone who is good with technology / Phones / Computers etc.
- Someone who might have an interest in beauty
- Cert III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent
- An unrestricted QLD driver’s licence and access to a reliable insured vehicle
- Be highly organised, flexible and reliable with the ability to respond to last-minute shifts/ crisis and emergency shifts
- Ability to write reoprts
- Previous experience with behaviour support plans would be an advantage but not essential
- Confidence in de-escalating behaviours of concern
- Experience with clients who have mental health-related illnesses
- Ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop (this is necessary for the position)
- Experience and skills supporting clients who can display behaviours of concern (BOC) would be an advantage but not essential
- Enthusiasm and passion for supporting people with disabilities to live great lives
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to employment
- NDIS Worker screening check or the immediate ability to apply
- Working with Children Check (or the ability to attain one)
- National police clearance check
- Access to a smartphone and the ability to navigate and utilize apps with ease (MUST)
- Must have a love for the industry, and be a positive, happy influence on our clients

**Important**

Our team work on an ABN basis and we will require you to have or be willing to obtain an ABN prior to starting, we pay an hourly rate + super.
