**Job Description**:
Squadron is looking for a federally focused Head of Government Relations to play a key role in positioning Squadron externally to achieve successful execution of our Strategy.
The Head of Government Relations will maintain strategic relationships with key elected and appointed stakeholders.
The ability to distil and clearly articulate business positions to decisionmakers and identify risks and opportunities in a time-critical environment is desirable.
This position will work with multiple project teams, understand the regulatory framework in energy and think creatively and decisively to find solutions to support our business objectives.
The Head of Government Relations will provide high-level advice to the CEO and senior leadership and assist with the preparation and review of strategic papers, briefings, policies, and reports.
The role will be required to work closely with the existing Tattarang External Affairs and Communications team to ensure alignment as well as the Squadron Energy Community, Media, and Stakeholder teams.
Duties include:
- Maintain strategic relationships with key elected and appointed stakeholders at a national, state and local level.
- Develop an approved stakeholder mapping and strategy for government relations, with integration into the wider external affairs planning.
- Assist with the preparation and review of strategic papers, briefings, policies, and reports.
- Provide critical input into business cases.
- Provide support with day-to-day reactive Government related requests.
- Identify and understand emerging issues.
- Develop submissions to committees.
- Support submission of project approval documentation.
- Work closely with the individual project directors/project stakeholder teams to manage an integrated approach to government relations across the business.
- Assist in the development of direct communications with key stakeholders and provide a government lens on all communications materials.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to find solutions to public issues and concerns.
- Build on our reputation as a leading voice in energy to Government, policy, industry, and the public.
- Responsibly record our engagement with Members of Parliament at State and Federal levels.
**Qualifications**:
You hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Communications, Marketing, Public Relations/Policy, Government, Stakeholder Management).
You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Government relations.
You understand the government stakeholder requirements of an asset intensive organisation.
You can demonstrate experience supporting the successful development of major infrastructure projects, work in government or ministerial office is highly desirable.
You have experience working across multiple projects and managing multiple internal and external relationships/clients.
You have strong government contacts at local, state, and federal levels
You have a results-driven track record in building strategic, effective, and high-quality government engagement.
You’re skilled at interpreting potential business impacts.
You have demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong records management.
You have highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
You have strong time management skills with the ability to deliver to tight timelines whilst maintaining accuracy
You can build and work to a set of performance metrics.
You can demonstrate well developed managerial skills with the ability to coach and mentor other team members.
