**Who we are**

The
**Compliance Partnerships** Section is responsible for contributing to the management of biosecurity risk through engaging and partnering with government and industry stakeholders both domestically and overseas. Compliance Partnerships comprises a complement of policy development and program delivery with a particular focus on addressing biosecurity risks before they reach Australia. The section establishes and administers offshore assurance arrangements, particularly for performance of biosecurity treatments.
**The Jobs**
Depending on the particular role, duties may include:
- contributing to the design, development and implementation of policy and program initiatives that align with the department’s strategic objectives
- undertaking research, analysing information, interpreting legislation and compliance frameworks, and making recommendations to support policy development and advice on legislative and policy matters
- providing advice and technical expertise in biosecurity treatment related areas
- working in partnership with government and non-government stakeholders to develop and manage the harmonisation of biosecurity treatments
- contributing to high quality written material including work instructions, project plans, minutes, discussion papers and reports
- liaising and effectively engaging with, and providing accurate and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders
- identifying issues, or opportunities to improve efficiency, in the section, developing mitigation strategies, and contributing to the review of work practices
- providing assistance in project management, co-ordination and secretariat activities.
**Please note **that this recruitment process will be used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions across the two sections listed above. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 3 years in total. Some of these non-ongoing positions may become ongoing in the next 18 months. Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis. The merit pool may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.
**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicants will have some or all of the following:
- Experience in policy or program design and development, including the ability to investigate and source key information to support decision-making.
- Experience producing instructional material, and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in liaising, engaging, consulting, and negotiating with expert groups and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience auditing approved arrangements or experience performing other regulatory audits and managing non-compliance.
- Knowledge of the _Biosecurity Act 2015_ and the approved arrangements framework.
