**About the opportunity**
The Forensic & Analytical Science Service currently have multiple opportunities for Technical Officers to join our Criminalistics teams. Working in the Chemical Criminalistics Unit and/or the Illicit Drug Analysis Unit, you will be engaged in a dynamic team of scientific professionals to deliver highly specialised analytical chemistry services to the NSW Police Force.

FASS is part of NSW Health Pathology and specialises in providing independent and objective forensic analysis to the criminal and coronial justice systems, as well as quality scientific analysis that contributes to community health and safety. Our services include illicit drug analysis, forensic and drug toxicology, chemical criminalistics, forensic biology and DNA, forensic medicine, and environmental toxicology.

**What you'll be doing**
- Minimum Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification relevant to analytical or forensic science to which the role applies.
- Demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of relevant technical laboratory skills and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to individually contribute in a team environment to deliver outcomes within specified timeframes.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients as well as other staff.
- Capability to display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to follow procedures when investigating general issues.
- Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.
