**Flourishing Oceans** aims to return our oceans to a flourishing state. A healthy ocean is one that can withstand a changing climate and increasing human pressure, is resilient, and free from pollution with a plentiful biomass of fished species. As human pressure increases and the health of our ocean continues to decline, dramatic steps are required to protect and conserve this resource.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goal (14) and its targets, our key objective is to return our ocean to a healthy thriving state. To facilitate this, we are committed to ending overfishing; ending the dumping of plastic, heat and CO2 in our ocean; supporting the sustainable use of ocean resources; conserving key habitats; and facilitating world class research.

The Research and Innovation Program Office will report to the Head of Research and Innovation. He/she/they will assist the Research & Innovation team with program coordination, strategy development, and implementation, as well as stakeholder & partner engagement. The Program Officer will also engage closely with other Foundation initiatives and cross-functional teams (Legal, Communications, Partnerships), as well as external stakeholders, to achieve the goals of Minderoo’s Research & Innovation Program.
- Lead, in consultation with the Head of Research and Innovation, the day-to-day programmatic activities needed to execute the program strategy.
- Direct the development and proactively support the team to prepare for internal reporting and documentation including business cases, quarterly objectives, impact strategy, evaluation and reporting, and budget management.
- Acting in place of the Head of Research and Innovation when they are not available.
- Assisting the Head of Research and Innovation in taking decisions regarding management procedures, organisational structure, and operations.
- Manage proactive coordination with all relevant initiatives, programs, and business units across the Planet, People, and Impact Enabler portfolios.
- Exercise independent judgement to resolve operational problems and facilitate the development and implementation of initiatives, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of the program.
- Coordinate and monitor people and processes to deliver projects on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Head of Research and Innovation.
- As required, support projects and activities including, contract management, community engagement, research and analysis.
- Coordinate briefing memos and background research for internal meetings and external engagements.
- Help coordinate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attend meetings and prepare detailed reports.
