The Development Approvals and Design Branch manages statutory planning assessments where the Minister for Planning is the responsible authority. This includes overseeing development facilitation projects, renewable energy facilities, social and affordable housing, large-scale developments in Melbourne’s central city (including Docklands, Southbank, and Carlton), Fishermans Bend, Central Geelong, Central Dandenong, non-government schools across Victoria, and the Alpine resorts. The Branch also provides statutory planning advice to support broader initiatives within the Planning and Land Services Group and the Department.

**Position Outcomes**
- Produce planning assessment reports and briefs and advice on development approvals, priority projects, planning processes and urban planning issues to inform decision making.
- Provide advice to senior management on complex development and built form issues and solutions and prepare assessment reports, Ministerial briefings, on time, and that demonstrate an understanding of the policy, political and legal context.
- Foster key stakeholder relationships and partnerships within the department and with other government agencies and key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of advice and assessments.

**Qualifications and Experience**
**Mandatory**
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in statutory planning.
- Driver’s license.
