**About the role**:
With a significant pipeline of opportunities identified across the Transport and Technology sectors, UGL are seeking to appoint an experienced Planner to support the team with planning and scheduling tasks to ensure the timely management of project deadlines. The Planner will be working in the major projects space based in Melbourne:
Reporting to the Planning Manager, by planning the work required, including material and external services, to process work orders and projects through the workshop. Reporting on progress towards achieving delivery dates and on cost performance, with recommendations on how and where to improve performance, is the most important aspects of the Planner’s work.
Some of the key responsibilities but not limited to
- In conjunction with Planning Manager, define the project scope, outcomes, milestones etc.
- Routing and scheduling to facilitate the completion of service orders by due delivery dates.
- Estimate the total project costs using information from on-going and completed projects and the inputs of the engineers, procurement managers, operations managers, sub-contractors, suppliers etc.
- Develop and maintain project schedules / plans, defining the scope of work, and allocating resources.
- Create and maintain standard master bills of material for ongoing work.
- Coordinate timing of all external contractors.
- Ensure weekly reports are presented each week. Monitor work in progress and highlight low efficient work (WIP) to the Project Managers
- Plan the labor hours, conduct regular meetings with team leaders to ensure on time delivery of projects.
- Plan materials to ensure on time delivery of projects and jobs.
- Provide weekly project updates for customers and assist with enquiries.
- Establish work priorities and up-date these priorities as customer requirements change.
- Provide forward workload and material estimates based on service orders on hand and hence forecast section loading in labor hours and materials.
- Monitor and set material safety stock levels in consultation with logistics.
- Establish resource (work section) scheduling from service order listing or other appropriate methods of data presentation.
- Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements.
- Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Planning Manager.
**About You;**
- Tertiary engineering qualifications (mechanical or electrical) or formal education at a higher level with some technical competencies would be an advantage.
- Solid experience in a similar role supporting large infrastructure projects with exposure to M&E - transport projects (tunnels) at least 7+ years’ experience in planning/scheduling activities.
- Hands-on experience in programming software Primavera P6.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
