**The Centre For Service and Therapy Dogs Australia / DogsForLife** is focused on working with specifically trained dogs within mutually defined psychosocial programs, to assist "people at risk" to achieve predefined therapeutic and educational goals and to create a lasting partnership that aims to improve quality of life, enhance independence and facilitate increased empowerment and participation in society. We are seeking an Occupational / Rehabilitation Therapist **who respects dogs**, to join our team delivering animal assisted therapy, education and empowerment services together with the required therapy and service dogs. As an accredited therapist in our team, you will actively assist with program delivery, active counselling, and evaluation services for individual clients, residential and educational facilities. You will also be involved with various universities undertaking research in and around our activities. This is the perfect opportunity for you to become involved in the animal assisted therapy environment and to establish your own practice within our group. We do provide formal accredited supervision for placement applicants, All "animal related" training will be provided by leading international practitioners. The successful applicant for this role will have; A respect for dogs and a genuine belief in the ability of specifically trained dogs to positively affect therapeutic outcomes and to enhance the quality of life of those utilising them correctly. Perceive ability as opposed to disability, inclusion as opposed to, exclusion, separation and integration. A formal tertiary education and registration as required by your profession. Role is also open to new graduates and provisional registrations Current National Police Check Certificate & Working with Children Cert Full Australian Drivers Licence Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and demonstrate a highly visible passion and energy that motivates others Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide counselling and assessment services to our clients.
