**Job Description**:
BESIX Watpac are looking for an safety advisor to join our team working on a Project commercial project in Alexandria. We are looking for an upcoming ambitious WHSE / Safety advisor searching for an opportunity to join a business who prioritises safety at all levels along with. Duties of the role will include;
- Conduct audits and inspections on the project to identify hazards and unsafe or unsatisfactory health and safety conditions and practices and communicate the results to the project team and the project safety committee.
- Cease work where a serious and immediate/imminent risk to health and safety is identified, and ensure that workers and other duty holders are aware of their ability to cease work in the same circumstances.
- Provide technical support to other project team members in reviewing and accepting safety documentation provided by Subcontractors.
- Assist in the facilitation of consultation with workers and other duty holders, including employees of subcontractors.
- Assist the Project Manager concerning specific training needs, appropriate educational and training programs in OHS for the project.
- Audit and review using measures such as operational audits, site observations and inspections, attendance at staff meetings and toolbox talks, identification of negative trends and issues, and informal consultation with workers and advise the Project Manager/ Site Manager of any findings.
- Notify the Project Manager/ Site Manager and State OHS Manager in the event of a notifiable incident.
- Investigate all injuries, illnesses and notifiable incidents that arise at the BESIX Watpac workplace or through BESIX Watpac activities related to the project.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

- Tertiary qualifications in OH&S or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as the Project Safety Officer for a building/construction organisation or equivalent experience.
- Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business with a particularly strong internal customer focus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proven high level of professionalism, maturity, candour and confidentiality in daily work ethic.
- Occupational First Aid (Level 1) is desirable.
- Computer skills (intermediate) including the use of Microsoft Office.
