**About the opportunity**

We are currently seeking an Internal Auditor with 5-6 years experience, energetic and highly motivated to work as part of our Audit and Risk team on a permanent, full-time basis. This position is ideal for someone seeking an opportunity to develop and gain experience to proceed towards a Senior position in Council or within our Governance Section.

The position will also provide opportunity in the field of risk management, working closely with our Insurance section, gaining a knowledge of insurance in local government.

You will be working with the Coordinator Audit and Risk to develop and administer a comprehensive strategic programme of audit and risk management activities across Council's operations in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management control.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Essential**:

- Tertiary qualifications (minimum a diploma) in Accounting, Audit, Commerce or Business Management
- Solid experience in auditing and implementation of ERM systems
- A high level understanding of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management and the Global Internal Audit Standards issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

**Desirable**:

- Interpersonal skills with a capacity to influence others
- Experience in completing audits in government agencies
- Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills
- Good computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and concurrently on several audit tasks
- Current class C driver's licence.

**Remuneration and Benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,092.02 - $2,217.67 per week
- 35-hour working week
