**The role**:
APRA’s mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.

As a Senior Analyst/Advisor Policy, you will be responsible for developing policy options and making recommendations across the full range of prudential policy, including the content of APRA’s prudential standards and prudential practice guides.

You will work across the APRA-regulated sector through consulting with regulated entities, other government agencies and industry groups.

**_You will also be involved in:_**
- Developing and reviewing policy through collaborative engagement with stakeholders and relevant experts, to ensure APRA policies can address prudential issues as they arise.
- Engaging and negotiating with key stakeholders within APRA and from the financial sector and other government agencies, on policy issues to ensure that policy development is reflective of current market developments and stakeholder needs.
- Preparing briefing papers and submissions to ensure timely and accurate responses to policy issues raised by stakeholders and other agencies.
- Providing advice and assistance to key stakeholders on all matters relating to insurance policy development.
- Identifying opportunities for new projects and make recommendations to the Senior Manager, Policy Development on policy initiatives.
- Responding to requests for advice and/or interpretation of existing policy, practice and procedure.

**About you**:
To be successful in the role you will have excellent written, communication, collaboration and consultation skills, including stakeholder management capabilities and in-depth knowledge of, and practical experience in, the financial services sector or government.

You will also need excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills to develop policy solutions for complex issues.

The successful applicant must also be an Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen and complete background and security clearances.
