Mechanical Fitter

**Job Description** About this opportunity**

The primary purpose of the Fitter is to provide production support on plant machinery, including breakdown troubleshooting, project implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is part of a maintenance team covering 24-hour operations, 5 days a week, with additional support for weekend production as required

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- ** Maintenance and Repair**
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operation.
- Maintain assigned Site services including,
- Drive continuous improvement of maintenance processes to support operational goals.
- Coordinate with the production team to minimize downtime and ensure effective support for safety, quality, and operational improvements
- ** Installation**
- Install, assemble and test new machinery and equipment as required, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with OEM manufacturers to install and commission equipment.
- ** Troubleshooting**
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on a range of specialized equipment, including
- Perform Root Cause Analysis on all critical failures of plant and ensure action items derived are implemented and sustained
- ** Safety Compliance**
- Ensure all equipment complies with Australian Safety Standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- ** Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including parts used and time spent.
- ** Key Deliverables / Business Outcomes**:

- Reliable and well-maintained machinery and equipment.
- Reduced production downtime through effective maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- ** Decision Making**
- Prioritize work based on production needs and safety considerations.
- Make autonomous decisions regarding fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Plan and execute maintenance activities to minimize production downtime

**Your skills and experience**

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience in latest technology and automation within a manufacturing environment
- General mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance & repairs on manufacturing production lines
- Proven ability to problem solves for emergency maintenance and repair.
- A team player with a positive, self-motivated and proactive attitude is essential.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Stock control of relevant spare parts

**Qualifications** Accreditation / Qualification Requirements**
- Relevant trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner or similar.
- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent (desirable).
- Forklift license (desirable).
