In this role, you will be responsible for conducting high-level child protection assessments for patients and their families, ensuring timely intervention and appropriate referrals. You will be tasked with case planning, advocacy, and ensuring compliance with child protection reporting responsibilities, all while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. This role involves providing specialized advice to staff within the Emergency Department, Paediatrics, and Maternity Services on child protection matters. As a senior clinician, you will supervise Level 1 and 2 social workers, offering guidance and leadership within the inpatient team. Additionally, you will contribute to service development, policy planning, and participate in quality improvement activities to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to engage in research and clinical education, sharing your expertise with colleagues and students alike.

**About You**
- You must have a have a **Degree in Social Work** from an accredited institution, providing eligibility for membership with the **Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)**.
- You have extensive experience **in child protection and domestic violence assessment.**You should have **specialist knowledge and experience** in child protection, including risk assessment, decision-making, and brief interventions. Your experience should include working in a clinical setting with children and families who have experienced or are at risk of abuse, with a comprehensive understanding of child protection principles, legislation, and NSW Health Policies.
- You have a valid Australian Drivers Licence, and willingness to travel to various sites across the District as required.
- You have excellent **verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills**, with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences.

**Where You’ll Be Working**

You will be based at **Gosford Hospital**, serving a diverse and growing community on the Central Coast. This position primarily covers child protection services across the **Emergency Department, Paediatrics, and Maternity Services**, where you will be actively involved in identifying and addressing child protection concerns. You will work closely with other Child Protection, Maternity, and Paediatric social workers, fostering collaboration to ensure the provision of comprehensive and proactive care. This role offers the opportunity to engage in hospital-wide service planning and policy development, while being an integral part of a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. In addition, the position requires participation in the **Social Work On Call roster** after a training period, allowing you to further contribute to critical service delivery.
