**About the opportunity**:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Principal Policy Officer to join the Strategy and Government Relations team within the Strategy Branch. The Principal Policy Officer is responsible for providing expert strategic policy advice and support on whole of portfolio matters in partnership with internal agency stakeholders, as well as with stakeholders at state and national levels.

**Key Selection Criteria**:

- Significant policy development, implementation, evaluation and/or legislative reform experience, with a high level of expertise in one or more significant areas of government policy.
- Superior written and oral communication, including the ability to explain complex concepts succinctly and clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including proven ability to lead, consult, liaise, influence, negotiate and develop a network of strategic alliances
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, including a track record of being a strong team player, and flexible, without comprising on quality.

**Qualifications**:
Essential: Knowledge of or experience in the energy and mining sector or demonstrated transferrable experience

Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification or significant equivalent experience; experience in legislative reform

**Remuneration**:
AS08, $121,107 to $125,679 per annum
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week

**Special Conditions**:

- This is a 12 month term contract with potential for extension
- A current National Police Clearance is essential
- Right to employment in Australia
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to drive is desirable
- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work
