A bit about us:

- Proud Mary Cafe based in Collingwood is the flagship of our company. Coming up on our 13th birthday
- We source high quality coffee direct from origin, roast the beans, and supply coffee around the globe. We currently have our flagship cafe, Roastery and brew bar Aunty Peg’s in Collingwood, as well as our Roastery and cafe in Portland, Oregon and soon-to-be second location in Austin, Texas
- Through food, coffee, and genuine heartfelt service, we aim to delight our customers and make a difference by sharing the stories behind our products

Few highlights you will be responsible for:

- Leading the charge, in a service focused and quality driven model
- Team management, training, rostering
- Maintaining high starters in service and adhering to food safety and OH&S guidelines
- Jumping on the custom made 6 group synesso machine and serving consistently delicious coffee
- Managing day-to-day operations of a bustling cafe, including opening & closing procedures as well as stock management
- ..
- Develop trusted working relationships with customers, representative of, and in line with the values of Proud Mary Cafe
- Operate in line with Proud Mary Café philosophy and company values
- In collaboration with the Human Resources Manager and relevant department heads, manage operational human resources practices including trial, induction, orientation, training, rostering and minor grievance resolution
- Coach managers and staff in techniques to increase the average spend per head
- Set and meet financial objectives by preparing strategic and annual budgets, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, and monitoring financial controls
- Control purchases and inventory by negotiating prices and contracts; developing preferred supplier lists; reviewing and evaluating usage reports; analyzing variances; taking corrective actions
- Lead regular weekly progress meetings with VP of Retail, assistant managers, and Kitchen Manager
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the cafe industry, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing strong business networks
- Possess the highest level of knowledge about Proud Mary Coffee’s offerings to train and relay it to other staff members
- Work with managers to run regular training sessions for staff e.g. induction, orientation, product knowledge, sequence of service etc.

- Specialty coffee knowledge is a must for this role. We live and breathe all things coffee and so will you

- Well-developed organizational and administrative skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and control own workload
- Availability to work at least 1 weekend day
- Have a strong knowledge of POS systems, café ordering & accounting systems
- Possess basic MS Office skills
- Be flexible & adaptable to change
- Operate with efficiency & use initiative
- Barista experience is preferred
