**The Role**
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for project planning, design, management and development work for the First Nations feasibility study, a high profile and high priority project. The Assistant Director plays a key role in engaging with various stakeholders, as well as managing the relationship with a third-party provider who may be engaged to conduct aspects of the study. The Assistant Director will provide leadership, represent the agency, demonstrate cultural understanding, and leverage stakeholder networks to build rapport.
This is an Identified position. The role has strong involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This position has direct engagement with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers, or is involved in the development of programmes and policy. You will require a high level of cultural capability, including:
- demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- demonstrated high level ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- demonstrated high level capability and commitment to continue to develop cultural capability.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director EL1 may include:
- Input to decisions on governance, ethics, privacy assessments, and associated legalities to ensure legislative requirements are adhered to in collecting and outputting data.
- Representing JSA in external forums including with sector stakeholder groups and other government agencies.
- Actively engage in change management processes, driving change and innovation in the team.
- Producing project management documents, briefings, reports and other documents to a high standard.
- Managing a small team and provide leadership in the delivery of the strategic objectives for the team.
