The Principal Maintenance Services & Contracts - Fleet, Infrastructure & Road Management has responsibility for collectively leading an efficient, cost-effective and community centred approach to service provision of fleet management, public asset maintenance, engineering services and key member in the financial delivery program. The role impacts on all Darebin residents and interacts with other Council departments.

**About the Role**
Reporting to the Coordinator Infrastructure & Fleet, the position has responsibility for Leading others in service planning and delivery, content specialist and provides expertise and recommendations to others regarding managing risk, technical service, cost, value and legislative requirements, on time and within defined budget parameters.

Some key objectives of the position are:

- Develop procurement strategies and plans for acquiring new vehicles and equipment needed by the Council’s fleet, utilising these to Identify, evaluate and select suitable vendors or suppliers for the purchase of vehicles, ensuring they meet Council standards.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement decisions and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Fleet Maintenance, Procurement and operational teams to understand needs and requirements and ensure alignment with procurement activities.
- Develop documentation for tenders and new contracts and support Contract Managers to ensure their contracts deliver the services and benefits sought.
- Ensure effective infrastructure maintenance and minor renewal works services are provided via Council’s maintenance contracts, aligning with contract management targets and ensure specifications, targeted requirements, contextual information, timelines, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and legislative and compliant measures are evident, gaining input from responsible Contract Managers
- Lead long term planning, service improvement planning and innovation as it relates to these services to improve effectiveness, reduce risks and increase value to community.
- Ensure OH&S work practices are adhered to, and an active role is taken to minimise public risk

**Skills & Experience**
- Degree or Diploma in engineering, or construction/project management with several years relevant experience or higher qualifications with specialist / management experience, or lesser formal qualifications but with extensive relevant experience.
- Substantial project management experience in complex project delivery and financial management
- Demonstrated ability to manage expectations of multiple stakeholders with differing priorities to achieve a high standard of project delivery.
- Experience in researching and analysing information to address challenges and deliver effective solutions that improve customer and community outcomes.
- Ability to provide technical advice and recommendations to senior level teams, working groups, community groups and other staff.
