**About the role**
An opportunity has become available for Assistant Telecommunications Emergency Management Officer to join the Network Operations and Emergency Management team within NSW Telco Authority.
The NSW Telco Authority is looking for an Assistant Telecommunications Emergency Management Officer. This is a critical role will be responsible for undertaking operational functions in the response and recovery phases of emergencies.
In this role, you will work on the preparation for and prevention of emergencies, including developing, implementing, and improving data and information. You will also undertake projects and research activities that enhance the capability and performance of telecommunications operations. In the response and recovery phases of emergencies, you will provide critical advice in often high-pressured situations, to senior stakeholders, whilst remaining calm and considered. You will excel under pressure and will be proficient in analysing operational intelligence and solving problems.
You will be joining a friendly, fast-paced, dynamic and diverse team who is passionate about keeping people and places safe.
**In this role you will**:
- During major incidents, undertake the role of a Liaison Officer at Emergency Service Organisation Operations Centres. This includes being available on a rotating roster, on call, 24/7 to respond to actual and potential significant telecommunications service interruptions in NSW, which will include analysing and responding to emergencies and incidents in accordance with established procedures and coordinating responses between various stakeholders
- Participate in and support the undertaking of emergency operations, reviews and debriefs, coordination forums, and operational exercises, which will include undertaking research and preparing procedures, situation reports and briefings
- When rostered as the Duty Officer, at the point of initial response and at any hour of the day or night, analyse, assess and identify the scale and impact of an incident or emergency and define the appropriate response from a range of possible options, including immediate escalation
- Transform data into insights by working with management to prioritise information needs
- Develop policies and procedures for the collection, validation and analysis of data using a range of techniques and generating reports
- Identifying, analysing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets & Visualising data using tools like PowerBI/ Tableau/Excel
- The role will be a designated security assessed position, and the successful applicant will be required to undergo an assessment for a national security assessment
