**About this role**

As a youth worker, you will provide support and guidance to young people, helping them navigate personal challenges and build life skills. You will facilitate engaging activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and community involvement. Additionally, you will advocate for the needs and voices of youth, ensuring they feel empowered and valued in their environment.

This opportunity is based between Ashmore and Daisy Hill on a casual basis within our Child, Youth, and Families group. Weekend, before, and after-hours work will be required, based on client care needs.

In this varied role, you will manage tasks such as:

- Plan and Implement activities tailored to the individual care needs of young people ;
- Model appropriate behaviours and use strategies to encourage positive interactions;
- Maintain active communication with staff and management regarding youth issues;
- Ensure safe transportation of clients within community guidelines and legal standards;
- Keep accurate, clear, and legally compliant records as per service policies and funding requirements;
- Work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to provide inclusive Services

**What you can bring to the team**

As an organised and self-motivated individual, your compassionate nature is crucial in implementing individual care to our young persons. Your can-do attitude and proactive approach enables you to be efficient and reliable.

To be suitable for the position, ideally you have:

- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Invention or Certificate III Community Services, or equivalent and relevant experience with a willingness to participate in further training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the contemporary challenges for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Current driver’s licence - P2 minimum.

Desirable:

- Applied knowledge and understanding of the child protection and care frameworks including the Child Protection Act 1999, or the ability to acquire.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and Child Protection Act 1999.

Possess or willing to obtain:

- A current National Police Certificate
- Working with Children (Blue Card)
- Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS)
