**Who are we?**
Harmony Social Services is a Service Provider, specialising in providing support to participants with psychosocial disabilities. We are currently seeking an experienced Youth Worker to join our team, based in Nerang. If you have a commitment to providing comprehensive care and enjoy working with challenging clients, then this is the role for you
**The Role**
As our Youth Worker, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
ž Interviewing clients and assessing the client’s needs and how best to achieve their goals.
ž Planning and implementing educational and development opportunities, and other support programs
ž Taking observations and reporting on the development of clients
ž Making referrals for clients to agencies that can provide additional assistance.
**Youth worker requirements**
ž Have a strong knowledge of NDIS guidelines, Community Services and Health Sectors.
ž Have an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing Alcohol and drug related issues, mental health illnesses and other psychosocial disabilities.
ž Possess a strong understanding of supporting clients with high Mental Health Behaviour within Residential environments and out in the Community.
ž Be experienced in managing clients with challenging behaviours.
ž Have skills/experience in working with diversity and an excellent working knowledge in Mental Health services.
ž Have the ability to support others with personal care and domestic duties in a respectful way (and be happy for this to be part of your job).
ž Have the capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job that may include manual handling tasks.
ž Enjoy working in a small team environment as well as independently if required.
ž Flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating roster which includes days, evenings, awake shifts, sleepovers and weekend shifts.
And must possess:
ž Diploma in Community Services / Mental Health
ž Completed certificates in:
- Medication Management
- Infection Control
ž A Current Driver’s License and willingness to use own vehicle (if required) with comprehensive insurance and roadworthy certificate.
ž A Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to commencing.
ž A NDIS Support Worker Orientation Module Certificate, or willingness to complete prior to commencing.
ž A confirmation record of COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 & 2) and booster
Being fluent in a second language would be advantageous, as we strive to meet the support requirements of specific participants.
