About the role

We’re seeking a Principal Transport Analytics to be responsible for delivering forward-thinking transport analytics for direct input into Transurban’s strategy function. We’re seeking an experienced people leader inspired by excellence, who will continue to develop advanced analytical tools, and oversee research and development.

You’ll join the dynamic Strategy and Traffic group, who delivers a core competency within the Transurban Group, anticipating future trends and preparing the business to address current and future traffic and growth challenges in Australia.

As our Principal Transport Analytics, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Develop, deliver and maintain best in class traffic and transport methodologies and analytics services including state-of-the-art coding, GenAI and Machine Learning approaches- Identify, propose, and manage the maintenance, development and enhancement of appropriate tools to improve outcomes- Monitor changes in industry practice and take into account likely future policy/technology changes- Analyse traffic trends and performance to understand ongoing traffic patterns and behaviour- Understand and communicate findings/analysis internally to senior leaders to support business decision making- Provide training and coaching to ensure the team has the appropriate skills- Lead collaboration activities within the traffic team to achieve a quality work outcome and a high functioning team- Proactively communicate with stakeholders to meet their needs as appropriate, including the preparation of effective presentation material- Plan for, manage and monitor key projects/priorities- Implement and improve quality systems in all aspects of technical work

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Proven deep understanding of traffic and analytics with relevant tertiary qualifications ideally in engineering, data science, economics or transport, Post graduate qualifications highly desirable- Ideally looking for strong experience derived from Department of Government Transport or Engineering consulting firms-
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically, undertake research and convey information clearly and concisely- Extensive experience in project and team management, with the proven ability to lead and work effectively in a team-based and collaborative environment- Possess a collaborative and inclusive approach to management with the ability to build and maintain a motivated and high performing team- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels- Strong transport industry contact network with credible reputation
