**About the Organisation**

EPA works to prevent and reduce the harmful effect of pollution and waste on Victoria’s environment and people. We work with community, industry and businesses. As the needs of Victorians change, we must be equipped to adapt and respond to a range of factors.

We are workplace committed to new ways of working, EPA celebrates diversity of people and lifestyles. We offer a wide range of practical options to support both your work and personal life.

- On-the-job training for a wide range of environmental roles
- Flexible start and finish times, as well as compressed work week options

**About the role**:

- Complete regulatory assessments as a Financial Assurance and Levy Officer in the Compliance Programs Unit.

- Excellent opportunity to work in a regulatory function at EPA which examines the risks of site activities. Please note this is not a role in EPA’s finance area.

Financial assurances are a regulatory tool intended to prevent the Victorian community bearing the financial cost of cleaning up a site to address environmental and human health risks. A financial assurance works like a security deposit; by providing it, a duty holder assures EPA that if a site needs to be cleaned-up, funds are available. It is a critical regulatory program that manages the potential risk to the state of activities undertaken by certain industry sectors.

**In this role you will**:

- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the team and other parts of EPA in the completion of financial assurance assessments.
- Contribute to the delivery of the waste levy program, with involvement in the validation and auditing of waste levies generated from waste disposal to landfills.
- Opportunity to be involved in executive and regulatory committee papers on regulatory matters, and involvement in legal advice requests and examining advice provided.
- Support the continuous improvement of the financial assurance and waste levies programs, including contributing to procedures and projects to enhance the programs.

**Skills and experience**:

- Holds a relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in environmental science, engineering, waste management or related fields.
- Exceptional organisation and authoritative stakeholder management skills are required, along with excellence in data analysis and management.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and deliver with competing deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
