**About the opportunity**
An exciting opportunity is available for an eager and enthusiastic legal research assistant to join our Policy team.
As the legal research assistant, you will support the policy team in keeping abreast of and responding to changes to the laws affecting the relationship between Western Australian employers and employees. You will help the team in making the case to Government about what needs to change, including through submissions to the State and Commonwealth Governments.
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Undertaking research and analysis, including monitoring developments in relevant legislation and case law.
- Advising the Manager of Policy on developments in relevant legislation and case law.
- Assisting preparing written and verbal submissions to the State and Commonwealth Government, tribunals and relevant regulators.
- Communicating and collaborating with the rest of the organisation to support CCIWA meet its strategic priorities.
- Any other duties as directed by your manager or supervisor which may be reasonably expected of you.
This is a **Full-Time, Permanent **role (Part time will also be considered).
**About you**
Success in this role will come from your solid skills in legal research and interpreting legislation, as well as your proactive approach to monitoring trends that may affect the laws governing the employment relationship. Above all, you will be passionate about helping CCIWA advocate for changes that make WA the best place to live and do business.
To be considered for this role, you will possess:
- 2-3 years practical experience in legal research and analysis—in workplace relations would be an advantage, but not a necessity.
- Outstanding research, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Superior written skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- The capacity to deal with sensitive issues in a professional and confidential manner.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office suite.
