About the Role
- Supervise the management of new and review radiation oncology patients in an outpatient setting
- Provide Specialist consultation to radiation oncology inpatients as required.
- Actively participate in outreach clinics (EG Ipswich Hospital. QE11 Hospital, Logan Hospital)
- Provide specialist radiation oncology input to multidisciplinary tumour stream meetings as required.
- Provide appropriate evidenced-based clinical care.
- Supervise training registrars and junior medical staff to ensure appropriate provision of patient care.
- Provide and allow for adequate communication to all stakeholders along the patient's continuum of care.
- Contribute to the educational activities within the department of Radiation Oncology by participating in the teaching of medical students, registrars and prevocational junior doctors within the hospital and through guidance, seminars, tutorials, on-the-job and off-the-job training to clinical staff in their specialist areas
- Actively participate in the conduct of clinical trials and other research activities within the department of radiation oncology.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development by attending relevant seminars and conferences to maintain up to date knowledge in regard to both technology and clinical practices and to maintain up to date college mandated requirements.
- Contribute to processes to improve the continuity of clinical care, coordination of services, clinical handover, and discharge planning during and after hospitalisation.
