Commercial Manager

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

Commercial Manager opportunity to support the Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) in optimising Tactical Data Link (TDL) integration and interoperability across the Joint Force and allied partners.
This role offers the opportunity to lead commercial activities within a high profile Defence environment.

**What You’ll Do**

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

- Lead complex procurement activities and manage ASDEFCON contracts for services, supplies, and software.
- Provide strategic commercial advice and support to stakeholders and delegates.
- Oversee contract performance, negotiations, and compliance with Defence procurement policy.
- Develop APS commercial staff and coordinate representation at key contract meetings.
- Identify and manage commercial risks, and prepare internal briefs and approval submissions.

**What You’ll Bring**
- Extensive experience in procurement and contract management, ideally within Defence.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth procurement rules, PGPA Act, and probity requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with ASDEFCON contracting templates and formal procurement qualifications.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum **Negative Vetting 1**or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with **International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)**requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
