About the Bussiness Unit
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985 (the VIFM Act). It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government.
The work of the VIFM can be described as a cycle of three parts:

- Providing forensic medical and scientific services and tissue banking
- Learning from this work
- Researching and teaching.

The VIFM Act creates a joint position of Director of the VIFM and Professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM) at Monash University. The Director/Professor is responsible for the strategic direction and activities of the DFM, which is housed at the VIFM and operates under the governance of the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. This position is within the Corporate Services and Development Division.

About the Role
This diverse role's purpose is to support VIFM's vision by developing the maturity of the quality and risk culture at the Institute through maintaining and supporting the Institute's quality and risk management system and working with managers and staff to identify improvement opportunities.
As well as participating in quality system activities such as internal auditing, non-conformity management and administration of the electronic quality management system, this role is integral to fostering a positive quality culture through effective engagement and support to Institute managers and staff.

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Contribute to, maintain and improve the integrated Quality and Risk Management System ensuring it complies with the VIFM Quality Framework NATA accreditation, ISO9001 certification, TGA cGMP, VGRMF and other regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits NATA, TGA cGMP and ISO9001 requirements and other regulatory and legislative standards with a continuous improvement focus.
- Provide regular reports detailing analysis and evaluation of quality system activities and provide recommendations to senior management detailing issues, risks and trends.

About You
- Experience working in a medical or forensic laboratory environment and/or TGA licensed manufacturing environment in a quality and/or risk-based role.
- Broad working knowledge of quality management systems with preference given to NATA ISO17025 and ISO15189, TGA Code of Good Manufacturing Practice and ISO9001, as well as an understanding of the business improvement frameworks and tools.
- Ability to plan work activities, coordinate and manage a variety of tasks and variable workload within timelines, particularly able to successfully deliver improvement projects while maintaining regular day-to-day activities.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor Degree, or equivalent, in a medical science-related discipline with relevant experience.
