We manage and deliver a range of services on behalf of the Australian Department of Home Affairs in order to support Refugee and Humanitarian Visa applicants with the medical assessment process and subsequent travel to Australia. This is a Fixed terms contract to March 2027. The Role IT Governance and Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the governance of IT processes and ensuring the smooth and controlled release of software and technology solutions. You will be managing the processes related to release management, compliance, risk management, and ensuring adherence to organisational standards, policies, and frameworks. To be successful as the IT Governance and Release Manager, you will need to: IT Governance: - Governance Framework: Implement and manage the IT governance framework to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. - Policy and Process Development: Develop, document, and enforce IT policies and procedures related to governance, risk management, compliance, and release management. - Audit and Compliance: Coordinate internal audits and compliance reviews to ensure that all IT processes meet relevant standards, such as ITIL, COBIT, or ISO 27001. - Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to IT projects, ensuring that governance protocols are followed throughout the development lifecycle. Release Management: - Release Planning and Coordination: Manage the planning, scheduling, and coordination of software releases across multiple environments (development, staging, production). - Release Lifecycle Management: Ensure proper versioning, configuration, and documentation of all software releases. Oversee the testing and approval processes for each release. - Change Control: Oversee the change management process to ensure that all changes are documented, tracked, and executed with mínimal disruption to business operations. - Release Readiness: Assess and ensure that software releases are "production-ready" by validating that all prerequisites (e.g., testing, code reviews, and user acceptance testing) are met before deployment. - Incident and Problem Management: Work with IT teams to resolve any issues related to software releases and address any post-release problems or incidents. Collaboration & Communication: - Cross-Functional Team Collaboration: Partner with IT development, operations, security, and other relevant departments to align release schedules and activities with business objectives. - Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update key stakeholders, including IT leadership and business units, on release status, governance initiatives, and risk management efforts. - Training & Awareness: Conduct training sessions on IT governance and release management best practices for teams across the organization. Continuous Improvement: - Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements in release management, governance, and risk management to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and improve quality. - Metrics & Reporting: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for release management and governance activities. Provide regular reports on release performance and governance compliance. About You: - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). - Experience in IT governance, release management, or IT operations management. - Experience with frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, or other relevant governance models. - Proven experience in managing the release lifecycle for software and IT projects.
