**The Role**
An exciting opportunity exists to undertake the role of Project Officer within the Aboriginal Economic Development branch in Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination Group at the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR).

The position will assist the delivery of the Aboriginal Economic Development programs including engagement with Traditional Owner Corporations.
The position will play a crucial role in assisting in the delivery of the Traditional Owner Corporation programs and projects that include planning, implementation, and management of projects, milestones and agreements.
A key component of this position is to develop strong partnerships with Victoria's Traditional Owner Corporations and Aboriginal businesses and cultivate collaborative relationships within DJSIR and with representatives from government and industry.
**The Team**
The Aboriginal Economic Development (AED) branch leads work across the department to support Aboriginal self-determination through employment and economic development. It oversees coordination and engagement with DJSIR's Aboriginal Partnership entity, the Yuma Yirramboi Council, and leads implementation of Yuma Yirramboi (Invest for Tomorrow) - the State's shared vision with Victorian Aboriginal communities to achieve economic parity between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Victorians within a generation.
The branch also supports all business units within the department in their approach to engaging with the Aboriginal community and embed the Guiding Principles of Self-Determination contained in the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework 2018 -2023. It partners across the department and government to embed culturally inclusive practices and drive improved outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians, as well as leading DJSIR's engagement with the Yoorrook Justice Commission and driving its Treaty readiness agenda.**
**About You**
Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills are crucial in this role. You will also require a high level of cultural competency, including:
- demonstrated understanding of the matters impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- demonstrated a high level of ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
