Program Manager Traditional Agreements

The Program Manager, Traditional Owner Agreements is responsible for providing advice and guidance related to DEECA's commitments within the Taungurung Recognition and Settlement Agreement (RSA). The role offers high-level support to the Manager and Director concerning the Taungurung RSA and Traditional Owner agreements overall. The position collaborates closely with DEECA's regional staff in Hume Region and the Taungurung Land and Waters Council to ensure RSA commitments are implemented effectively.
This is an "identified position" aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and effective communication with Aboriginal communities. Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
Specialist / Technical Expertise / Qualifications- Experience and knowledge in developing and delivering policy, programs, and projects, especially in land management and Traditional Owner policy development or implementation.
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and society, with the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.
- Understanding of the Traditional Owner Settlement Act (Vic) 2010, self-determination, and/or Natural Resource Management is advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications, including postgraduate qualifications in science, law, public policy, natural resource or environmental management, or similar, are desirable.
This is an ongoing position with flexible work location within the Hume Region and hybrid work arrangements available.
