Our organisation has a few levels - this position sits soundly within our overarching Infrastructure and Operations Alliance and belongs to the Operations Unit. This Unit can be thought of as the bulwark of our ‘front line’ as it is responsible for the management and maintenance of the City’s parks, environments, fleet, street, and waste services (so a lot of the core services delivered by Local Government).

Once a contract of employment is signed, we will work together with you to set up a training contract via a Registered Training Organisation that covers the duration of the apprenticeship.

**About the Position**

This Light Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice role is based at the City of Perth Depot in Osborne Park (free parking).

Whilst actively participating in TAFE structured study, you will gradually begin to assist with conducting repairs and maintenance of the City vehicles, plant, and mechanical equipment, as well as maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean, and tidy condition.

General direction and mentoring will be provided from more senior staff (Team Leader, Mechanic, or Trade Assistant) with guidance from the City’s wider Fleet and Depot Team also provided from time to time; because we all want you to be torqued up and ‘auto know better’ by the end. The role requires physical fitness, the ability to walk and stand for long periods, and a ‘C’ class drivers’ licence.
