**About the team**:
Coles Express makes people’s lives easier. Whether our customers are filling up with fuel, grabbing a snack-to-go or dropping by for essentials, our team is there when and where Aussies need us.
This will be a pivotal role during this exciting phase for the Express business, with its forthcoming transition from Coles Group to Viva Energy, backed by strong investment to support the exciting transformation roadmap that lies ahead.
**About the role**:
Reporting to the State Manager, the Regional Operations Manager will support Cluster Area Managers to build their product knowledge, capability, and commercial acumen to drive continuous improvement. This is a multi-faceted opportunity which will see you utilise your experience across operations, commercials, finance, and projects for the Express business.
On a day to day basis you will be accountable for leading Cluster Area Managers to deliver improved sales and enhanced customer experience through coaching and utilising data to help drive change and efficiencies.
You’ll also:
- Keep customer front of mind in all business decision and analyse customer data to understand what customers are saying about how they want to shop
- Provide support to the Cluster Area Managers, coaching Area Managers to improve their commercial knowledge and capability to help drive better commercial results
- Effectively own and manage the cluster areas Cost of Doing Business, identifying and acting on key opportunity areas such as loss, rem and general expenses
- Lead transformational change programs that are required to be delivered
- Own and drive a governance culture within the state, ensuring adherence to necessary legislation and compliance
- Develop clear action plans to support opportunity stores and areas
**About you and your skills**:
We are looking for a commercial and inspiring leader with proven success in a high-volume retail business with multisite store locations of various sizes, formats and performance across a diverse geographic area.
With a customer obsessed mindset and ability to coach and develop our Cluster Area Managers to deliver against our customer and commercial strategies, you have proven success in delivering across an operations strategy to increase sales and enhance customer experience.
You’ll also need:
- Ability to use insights and data to drive performance and decision making
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence outcomes across all levels of the organisation
- Experience working collectively with support functions to uncover insights and drive performance
- Strong understanding of business performance, store operations planning, project management, creative problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
- A history of successfully implementing and/or managing significant retail change and business critical projects
