**The Opportunity**
Join the Health Promotion and Community Strengthening team as a **Community Development Officer where you will be working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities** to improve their wellbeing outcomes.
Your experience engaging with this community group and understanding of their complex issues, will enable you to provide practical and strategic support to clients and communities to navigate the health service system in a culturally sensitive manner.
There are plenty of opportunities to collaborate with the community, stakeholders and staff to design, coordinate and deliver initiatives to address health and wellbeing priorities. This includes strengthening IPC Health's capacity and competency in being culturally responsive as well as other key projects such as our Reconciliation Action Plan implementation; leading the delivery of healthy eating and active living initiatives; support access pathways to healthy and wellbeing services; and participate in a range of internal and external partnerships initiatives.
To help you succeed, you will be well supported by the team and Team Leader Health Promotion and Community Strengthening offering supervision, coaching and guidance. You will have access to professional development opportunities specific to your needs to further develop your skills and work within an innovative framework to promote creativity and better outcomes for our clients.
This is an Ongoing opportunity and is flexible to consider Part Time or Full Time depending on your work life balance needs. Classified as a Social and Community Services Employee Level 3 -5 offering **$67,000 - $93,000 pa plus 10.5% super (Pro Rata Part Time)** under the Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017.

**You will make a difference by**
- Developing and implementing health promotion initiatives to improve wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities through best practice and culturally appropriate community development and health promotion principles.
- Facilitating, planning, implementation and evaluation of Health Promotion activities aligned to IPC Health’s Prevention Strategy
- Building and strengthening IPC Health’s relationships within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and other meaningful partnerships..
- Strengthening IPC Health’s capacity and competency in cultural responsiveness through the provision of strategic expert advice, resources, learning and development activities.
- Providing practical and strategic support to clients & communities to navigate health service system in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.

**To succeed, you will need**
- Qualifications in Community Development, Health Promotion or substantial experience in a similar role.
- Working knowledge and understanding of complex issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including experience engaging with this community to improve wellbeing outcomes.
- Aboriginality and experience in developing and maintaining cultural and cross-sector partnerships.
- Knowledge and expertise in contemporary community development or health promotion theories, models and frameworks.
- Well-developed communication (verbal and written), technical and project management skills.
- Current and valid Victorian driver’s licence and Working with Children’s Check.
