We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally. **About the role** The Chief Operating Officer is a senior management position with responsibility for directing and managing operational activities across the combined COO teams and in line with the implementation of the overall organisational strategy within the Company. You will work closely with senior management, embedding and encouraging a culture of fairness, openness and accountability. The COO teams include IT, Claims, Underwriting, Medical & Health Services, Projects & Innovation and Data Governance. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will work closely with colleagues in Australia and across the Group to ensure all duties are undertaken in accordance with employment law, Group & local company policy and that any risk to the business is minimised. Operations: Operationalise strategy and implement the Board approved Business Plan to meet the organisation's goals across teams. Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics and implementing corrective measures when necessary. Executive Committee Accountabilities - Lead the strategic planning cycle and related project roadmap management - Lead the data strategy and management across HLR Aus - Lead operational excellence across HLR Aus, embedding a continuous improvement culture - Act as Responsible Manager for HLR Aus's Claims Handling AFSL and as an Accountable Person under the Financial Accountability Regime Ad hoc: Contribute to Global projects as needed and appropriate. Work across organisational borders ensuring that processes are managed consistently, and best practice is applied.
