We are seeking a DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER in Sunshine North Melbourne. Casual position available. Must be living in Australia(Sunshine North Melbourne)
**The Role**
You will be working closely with our participants, other service providers, stakeholders, managers and support workers to ensure effective and timely supports are provided to meet client needs in line with their NDIS packages and Sunny Pine Home Care policies and procedures.
**You will be responsible for**:
- Assisting in developing and implementing client-specific programs to help individuals build strong social skills and encourage independence where possible
- Providing support in community-based settings, group homes, respite, participant’s homes
- Providing support based on a person-centered approach, supporting inclusion and participation
- Providing support to assist clients with daily life tasks as well as community participation
- Working effectively both in a team and with different client ratios such as 1:1, 1:3 etc
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
- Being available to work a variety of shift types, including early morning, afternoon, evening, weekends, sleepovers and active nights
- Creating and complying to an Individual Support Plan
- Complying with all recording requirements, including but not limited to: recording medication administration, completing incident reports, completing participant progress notes, updating participant support plans and accounting for cash expenditure
- Attending and participating in scheduled supervision meetings with Service Manager or Operations Manager
- Ensuring own hours worked are accurately recorded and reflect actual hours worked
- Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements
- Adhering to all Sunny Pine Home Care policies and procedures and NDIS guidelines and regulations
- All other duties as directed by Management

- Active Listening: Being an active listener is crucial for understanding individual preferences, concerns, and requirements. It helps in building trust, identifying needs, and addressing any issues effectively.
- Personal Care Skills: Disability support workers may assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, and grooming. They should have the knowledge, skills, and sensitivity to provide personal care while respecting the individual's dignity and privacy.
- Safety Awareness: Safety is paramount when working with individuals with disabilities. Support workers should be vigilant and aware of potential risks or hazards to ensure a safe environment for both themselves and the individuals they support.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Disability support workers often work as part of a team, including other support workers, healthcare professionals, and family members. Collaboration and teamwork skills are important to coordinate care, share information, and ensure continuity of support.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Individuals with disabilities come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Being culturally sensitive and respectful of different beliefs, values, and practices is essential for providing inclusive support.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of support provided, progress, and any incidents is important for effective communication, continuity of care, and legal compliance.
