- We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual to join Treehouse Innovative Families in the position of _**_Behaviour Support Practitioner._**
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible for providing high quality, evidence based and timely behaviour support to our participants to promote positive mental and emotional wellbeing. This includes coordinating the use of positive behaviour support services to assess and treat individuals with physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities.
**The Opportunity**
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner you will provide client services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Reporting to the Clinical Lead, you will work collaboratively with a team of clinicians to develop, implement and review Behaviour Support plans.
Responsibilities include:
- Coach, advise and provide on the job support to team members and carers to support the development of their skills/knowledge in terms of developmental milestones, evidence-based interventions and practice to improve client outcomes.
- Deliver evidence based psychological assessment, behavioural management support and other psychotherapeutic treatments/interventions.
- Liaise with families, guardians, advocates and external stakeholders/agencies where appropriate in relation to clients.
- Provide psycho-educational programs (including Behaviour Management Plans) and support for staff, carers and family members in the implementation of programs.
- Maintain currency of knowledge of legislation, policy and best practice in relation to providing Positive Behaviour Support, such as the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Practice Standards.
- Undertake functional analysis and Positive Behaviour Support Planning
- Provide behavioural assessment of a client’s presenting issues and support needs, and identify appropriate supports, interventions and service models
- Provide assessment to design and develop intervention plans and strategies, including Lifestyle & Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessment & Management Plans
- Undertake specific assessments, such as adaptive functioning, using evidence-based tools as appropriate to the role and qualifications
- Prepare, write and deliver assessment reports.
- Provide support, advice and direction to groups and individuals
- Create strong, collaborative relationships with NDIS participants.
- Work in conjunction with other professional service providers to ensure their specialty and requirements have been captured within the plan.
- Provide training and support to mentors and relevant stakeholders in therapeutic interventions, behaviour support plans, restricted practices, risk and safety plans.
- Work within the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission requirements, the NDIA terms of business and any State Based Restricted Practice Authorization requirements.
- Adherence to Treehouse policies and procedures through completion of core mandatory training and refreshers.
