What You’ll Be Doing:
As a key part of our team, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide Personalized Support:
Assist with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, and hygiene. You will provide participants the supports feel empowered and independent.
- Engage in Social & Recreational Activities:
Join participants on exciting outings, whether it’s fishing, hiking, or simply going for long walks. You’ll support them to access social, community, and recreational activities, providing fun and meaningful experiences.
- Enhance Independence:
Support participants with transportation and public transport training to access social activities, attend appointments, or assist with school runs for young people.
- Emotional & Social Support:
Provide emotional support to individuals, including children and young people with behavioural challenges or trauma backgrounds. Your patience and understanding will support participants build their self-confidence and resilience.
- Safe, High-Quality Care:
Ensure a safe and respectful environment for vulnerable children and adults, creating a space where they can thrive.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for positive, adaptable individuals who are committed to empowering others and making a real difference in their lives. You’ll need to have:
- Qualification Requirements:
- Preferably Certificate III in Individual Support (or similar). If you’re still studying or have a lower qualification, we can support you access government-funded courses and work towards higher qualifications.
- Key Certifications:
- Blue & Yellow Cards, Police Check, and First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Driver's License and a reliable, insured vehicle.
- Core Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
- Ability to work with challenging behaviours and complex care needs.
- Confidence and professionalism in delivering person-centred support.
- Strong professional boundaries and the ability to follow procedures.
- Flexibility & Teamwork:
- You must be flexible in your availability, with shifts across weekdays, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a small, growing team.
- Experience in Behavioural Support (Valued but not Essential):
- Experience supporting children with behavioural challenges (especially Autism or trauma backgrounds) is highly valued.
- Personal Interests (Valued):
- Skills or interests in crafts, cooking, outdoor activities (like fishing or hiking), or exercise will be a bonus, enhancing your ability to engage with a diverse range of participants.
