Such research is conducted in partnership with, or as a result of, funding from a range of state, national and international organisations, including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), Healthway, health service providers, elite sporting organisations (i.e. Australian Institute of Sport, Western Australian Institute of Sport) and industry.
Our researchers have strong cross-disciplinary alliances and collaborate extensively with relevant domestic and international organisations to ensure that our research addresses real-world problems and has direct impact at an individual, community and global level.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean (Research), the Industry Engagement officer will be responsible for expanding industry research partnerships and drive industry engagement for researchers. This will include planning and running industry-researchers engagement workshops, compile and analyse findings. The role will undertake capability mapping with in SMHS and develop a targeted strategy for industry engagement. For established relationship it would be expected that support will be provided to facilitate and support researcher-led engagement with external partners to grow research income.
**Key responsibilities of the position include**:
Undertake capability mapping within SMHS and develop a targeted strategy for industry, community and government engagement.
Develop and communicate impact statements, based on case studies, to prospective industry and government partners.
Planning and running of industry-researchers engagement workshops, compile and analyse findings.
Facilitate the preparation of high-quality research-industry impact case studies in liaison with researchers and end-users.
Prepare internal reports to summarise the SMHS’s industry engagement and to capture workshop/engagement outcomes.
Employees are required to participate in all ECU, team, and individual planning activities (including Management for Performance (MPS); comply with ECU policies and practices in all aspects of their work and conduct; and ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others by complying with OSH and EO requirements.
Capabilities

**Qualifications**: Postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive subsequent relevant experience OR an equivalent level of expertise gained through a combination of education, training and/or professional accreditation.
**Knowledge/Experience**: Demonstrated experience in developing and managing project plans in response to organisational needs, and undertaking data analyses, preferably in a university research administration environment.
**Presenting and Communicating Information**: Ability to organise and present information, views and concepts in a concise, understandable and interesting format for a variety of audiences, from ECU’s internal and external communities. Involves determining the most appropriate format and vehicle for delivering information to ensure the audiences understanding of the message and its intent.
**Problem Solving and Decision Making**: Ability to investigate, identify and analyse key issues and the associated alternative, benefits and costs to develop practical solutions. Involves being creative and innovative when developing effective solutions and the ability to manage related risks. Also an understanding of when a decision needs to be escalated to others and working to try to identify and address potential problems before they arise.
**Building Relationships**: Building rapport and forming positive working relationships with all internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders/ communities.
**Shapes Strategic Thinking**: Is concerned with innovative forward thinking, seeking and accepting challenges and opportunities through developing plans and strategies that support and are consistent with ECU’s long-term vision, direction and commercial aspirations of being a first rate, dynamic, financially sound University of the future.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $115,042-129,573 pro-rata plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
