Principal Contracts - Owners Team - Major Projects

This blue-chip mining company has an urgent requirement for a Contract Principal to join their Major Projects team.

About the Role

As Contract Principal you will work collaboratively with Commercial teams, Project Development & Delivery Teams, Project Controls, and other Functions to successfully deliver the project. Working with a team of contract professionals, you will deliver the contracting strategy and world-class end to end contract management for the project.

Provide strong commercial expertise to the stakeholders and other team members
- Drive execution in accordance with the Project Execution and Contracting Strategies to preserve and improve project portfolio value
- Ensure that market engagement is planned and executed through the procurement lifecycle to meet project schedule, quality, and cost objectives
- Provide end-to-end contract management pre
- and post-award.
- Manage Total Cost of Ownership awareness in project contracts and procurement activities
- Manage Contractor and contract performance, monitoring, and reporting to support the Projects Community
- Establish and lead relationships with key stakeholders to become a highly valued contract expert
-Lead the implementation of appropriate systems and processes based on project risk and complexity
- Be responsible for establishment and implementation of accurate reporting routines on the performance of the project.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a dedicated and passionate commercial professional with 5+ years’ experience in capital projects.

Previous experience in major Projects and EPC end-to-end management experience is a plus.
- Understanding of both study development and project delivery in the resource sector
- Developed understanding of the contract life cycle from strategic identification and development to procurement to contract close out.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex and ambiguous environment
- Previous on-site construction experience is a requirement.
- Good understanding of major capital projects and functional governance processes.

This is a long-term temp (12 months ++) role offering a day rate of around $1150 + super as well as a flexible working week with work from home.
