**POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**
- To maintain nominated Council assets in a clean, hygienic, and secure state.
- To effectively lead and contribute to the Facilities Cleansing Team while working as a
Team Leader.

**Key External Relationships**:General public, sports clubs, tenants, contractors
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.
- Provide Team Leadership to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the
section, delivering outcomes that meet specifications of contract or service level
agreement, or as otherwise directed by the Manager Property & Fleet Maintenance or
their nominee.
- Develop a “team culture” within the section based on a positive attitude towards
attendance, increased productivity, and work performance.
- Effectively encourage, promote, and enforce safe work practices within the workforce
and maintain safe work sites in line with BM City Services’ and Council’s Occupational
Health and Safety requirements and with regard to the provision of Council’s safety
code.
- Ensure that any workplace injury or incident is reported and investigated promptly in
accordance with the adopted policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all vehicles, plant, and equipment are maintained in good working
condition and in a clean and tidy condition by the drivers/operators.
- Determine material and equipment quantities and assist in purchase/stores
requisitioning.
- Ensure adequate stock is available at times for all team members.
- The incumbent will be required to operate out of Katoomba Depot.
- Induct new staff and monitor performance.
- Ensure that on-site risk assessments are completed in accordance with the SafeWork
guidelines and the WHS Act and that measures are put in place for the prevention of
work-place injuries.
- Work is required on weekends and Public Holidays (including Good Friday and
Christmas Day)
- Clean specified public amenities assets, sports field amenities, high profile tourist
destinations and other areas as directed.
- Daily clean of public facilities, amenities, bus shelters and sports amenities
- Liaise with members of the public and stakeholders and report any unresolved service
issues and customer concerns to the coordinator or via councils reporting portal.
- Report any issues concerning public safety, damaged Council property or other
hazards likely to cause injury to the public in accordance with the specified guidelines.
- Wear uniform / clothing supplied by BMCC as well as required Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task being undertaken.
- Other duties as specified by the Coordinator or Manager.

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.
