To provide a professional cleansing service for designated streets, town centers, high

profile tourist destinations and other areas as specified.
- Ensure the areas present as hygienic and aesthetically pleasing for residents and

visitors to the City.

Recreation Staff, Waste and Resources
Management, Civil Infrastructure

**Key External Relationships**:General public and shop owners

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The incumbent will be required to operate out of Katoomba Depot
- Work is required on weekends and Public Holidays (including Good Friday and

Christmas Day) with a start time of 4am at the rostered Depot.
- Clean specified streets, town centers, high profile tourist destinations and other areas

as directed.
- Litter patrol of Councils roads, lanes and including tourist amenities and car parks as

specified.
- Daily clean of town tidy bins, surrounds and street furniture. Including the regular

removal of advertising notices, within town centers
- Liaise with members of the public and shopkeepers and report any unresolved service

issues and customer concerns to the Team Leader.

**Workplace Health & Safety**

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.

You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are required
at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

**COMMUNICATION**

This position is part of a small team where communication and cooperation within the
team is essential to carry out the duties of the person.

**JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING**

Problems are of a routine nature requiring little if any analysis. The job holder is required
to concentrate and pay attention to detail and while innovation is encouraged little is
required.

**SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES**

**ESSENTIAL
- Knowledge of, or experience in street cleaning or similar disciplines such as general

cleaning or parks and roads maintenance
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to often changing work environments
- Ability to complete relevant standard forms such as day sheets, timesheets, incident

reports, injury claims and adapt to new systems and technology
- Good communication skills and a commitment to providing quality customer service
- Physically capable of undertakeing the requirements of the role as outlined in the

physical demands analysis
- Knowledge of and commitment to Workplace Health and Equal Employment

opportunities
- Current Drivers Licence
