**About the Role**
IRT Aged Care Centres provide 24-hour professional and personal care in a purpose-built community, where residents are cared for with kindness and supported to live connected lives. With dedicated care neighbourhoods and specialist programs, IRT personalises the care experience for every resident.

**The working days for this role are : Saturday ( 4 hour shift), Sunday ( 4 hour shift) and Monday ( 6 hour shift). There is also an additional day needed on a Tuesday ( 6 hour shift) but at another IRT location - St George's Basin.**

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Ensure all residents/clients are treated with respect and dignity at all times
- Have an understanding of IRT’s philosophies, policies and procedures
- Maintain a pleasant, clean and safe working environment as per policy and report any defects to supervisor immediately
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene, cleanliness and presentation adhering to the uniform/appearance and behaviour policy
- Attend staff education in-service meetings, seminars and external education programs for professional development
- Participate in Accreditation process including preparation and site visits
- Participate in Infection Control, Health, Wellness and Safety programs, fire safety and general orientation programs
- Work within the guidelines of the Accreditation standard, including Residents’ Rights and Responsibilities
- Observe the confidentiality of matters relating to residents/clients, their records and organisational matters at all times
- Responsibility for the delivery of activity programs for the residents which offer varied experiences, both group and individual, including those residents with dementia or special needs
- Provide a non-threatening atmosphere in which residents/clients can express their beliefs, wishes, desires, fears and doubts
- Maintain an environment conducive to harmonious relationships between residents/clients, their relatives, friends and all employees
- Support individual assessments of resident/client lifestyle history needs
- Where necessary, act as an advocate for residents/clients with IRT and Community agencies
- Assist to maintain residents/clients independence with shopping and therapy needs, as required
- Liaise with bus driver and administration staff with regard to allocation of bus for outings
- Support “special” events at sites/IRT Wellness Centre e.g. Christmas, Mothers/Fathers Day, St Patrick's Day etc.
- Participate in case conferences
- Assist the assessment and evaluation of activities and program as required
- Assist the development of the monthly activity program

**To Be Successful You Will Have**
- Experience working in aged care
- First Aid Certificate is required if working at a standalone site
- Empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Creativity and initiative in program development
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to satisfy documentation of
- residents/clients needs
- Sound computer literacy skills
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to plan and prioritise own work to meet deadlines
- A genuine interest in aged care.
