Gateways has multiple exciting opportunities available to join our team of compassionate Individual Support Workers in the
**Geelong region** on a

**The role**:
As an Individual Support Worker, you will be providing positive support and direction. Your dedication to maximise their potential, quality and enjoyment of life will empower children and adults with a disability and additional needs and their families to build on the unique strengths and needs of each participant and their family/carers to reach their goals - even if it means jumping into the pool for a swimming session

**Some of your responsibilities will include**:

- Follow person centered and active support practices in promoting the participant’s active inclusion in activities.
- Implement the participants Participation Plan as provided by the Respite Coordinator.
- Ensure the safety of participants at all times to achieve their goals.
- Report incidents any OH&S risks in delivering the support to individual participants.
- Fill out timesheet on the day a shift is worked, recording any travel approved to be claimed.
- Ensure family/participant sign off each session worked as evidence of hours supported.
- Provide information to families as relevant.
- Participate in program evaluation and development as part of the Gateways Individual Support and Recreation team.
- Participate in relevant team meetings, training and forums as required.
- Demonstrated experience in working with children, young people or adults with disabilities and challenging behaviour will be highly regarded.
- Flexibility with work hours.
- Experience in positively communicating with staff, participants and families.
- Valuing attitudes and professional behaviour which respects the dignity, rights, strengths, needs and interests of people with disabilities.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Qualifications in Youth Work, Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services, Disability Studies, or equivalent would be considered.

**Essential requirements**:

- Current Victorian Working with Children Card for an Employee
- Current Victorian driver’s licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
