**Who we are**
The Risk, Intelligence and Strategy Branch is the steward of the overall biosecurity risk management system, as well as specific functions that contribute to better understanding or management of current and emerging risk.

The Strategic Risk Team has been established to progress the development and implementation of a Biosecurity Risk Management Framework (Framework). The Framework will leverage the department’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and incorporate existing biosecurity risk management processes.

**The Job**
Working in the Strategic Risk Section, and with other sections within the branch, the Risk Policy Officer role will involve:

- leading the development of communications products and plans for internal stakeholders
- providing strategic communications advice, including on audience and channel engagement
- working with specialists to develop and produce communications content within tight timeframes
- working to continuously improve communications and engagement delivery by measuring and evaluating the impact of your work
- assisting with the development, implementation and ongoing review and maintenance of the Biosecurity Risk Management Framework, involving a high-level of stakeholder engagement, including consultation with areas across the Biosecurity and Compliance Group and the department more broadly
- supporting the mapping and profiling of end-to-end workflows and controls and the broader control environment
- analysing control effectiveness measures and developing recommendations to enhance existing practices
- establishing and maintaining co-operative working relationships with teams across the Biosecurity and Compliance Group, performing specific liaison functions as required
- participating in committees and forums as required
- preparing draft reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers for review by executive level staff
- supporting change management across the Biosecurity and Compliance Group, with a particular focus on integrated risk and control management.

**Please note** that this non-ongoing position is currently available for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of three years in total. This position may become ongoing in the next eighteen months which may result in the successful applicant being offered ongoing employment.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating communications plans and strategies.
- Experience in change management planning and delivery.

Desirable
- Experience in project management and change management.
- Knowledge of risk management.
- Experience interpreting and evaluating data to make informed strategic decisions and advice to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of biosecurity.
