**Due to a promotion within the team, we seek a suitably qualified individual to lead the City’s building compliance officers, to achieve effective and successful outcomes in line with relevant legislation, strategic objectives and customer requirements.**

**The position will lead a team of Compliance Officers and Swimming Pool Inspectors to investigate, resolve and provide advice in relation to building compliance matters and swimming pool inspections. The position will also be involved in procedure and policy development, education, and auditing activities.**

As our **Building Services Coordinator (Compliance)** you’ll be responsible for
- Providing comprehensive advice to other service areas of Council in relation to building issues in line with the City’s strategic objectives and to external stakeholders.
- The preparation of site inspection reports to a high standard and representation of the Council in relation to building compliance matters, as necessary.
- Responding to the Councillors requests on specific development issues in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assisting in the preparation of the Divisional Business Plan.
- Attending State Administrative Tribunal and WA Magistrate Court, where required.
- The supervision, mentoring and development of building compliance staff within the Building Services team.
- The effective and efficient performance of Building Services (Compliance) within City of Melville to ensure City’s strategic objectives are achieved.

**To be successful in this role, you will possess**:

- Essential - Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Essential - Building Surveyors Certificate of Registration Level 1 or 2.
- Essential - Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
- Essential - White Card.
- Extensive experience, expertise, and competence in Building Surveying with Local Government or as a private consultant Building Surveyor.
- Extensive experience and competency in the Building Construction Industry and in assessing and issuing building permits.
- Extensive experience and competency in managing appeals in the State Administrative Tribunal and prosecutions.
- Proven experience in supervision of staff.
