The purpose of the People and Culture Officer is to provide to administrative support to the People and Culture Business Partner, and wider Perth leadership and employee group with HR, IR and ER matters.

This role will have a strong focus on the regular human resource department administrative activities associated with recruitment, on-boarding, contracts, end of employment and staff training. This role will also interact with the payroll department on pay matters as required.

Under the direction of the People and Culture Business Partner, this role will also be responsible for assisting with People and Culture Projects, improvements and process mapping as required.

**KEY RESULT AREA RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Human Resource Administration**
- Share ownership of the employment variation process for change in employment conditions such as job title, manager, shift and communicating changes to relevant parties as required.
- Regular reviews of employee work rights to ensure compliance, and escalating if work rights are expiring or expired.
- Daily checking of the WA People and Culture and Traineeship Inbox, and actioning or escalating as appropriate.
- Assistance with HR metrics/reporting as required.
- Creation of new employee files, and correct filing of employee documents.
- Take ownership of traineeships program at SCT, including employee sign ups, training sessions, contract extensions and cancellations and administer the WAAMS portal
- Assist with the planning of large training seminars
- Assist with Culture improvement projects

**Employee Onboarding**
- Ensuring pre-employment/onboarding checks are completed including medicals, police checks, traffic history, VEVO, licenses and quals
- Create new employee profile in DoneSafe and upload licenses, qualifications and medical as required for compliance.
- Complete employee P&C induction on their first day
- Work with Payroll on Programed and casual conversion onboarding
- Keep onboarding tracker up to date

**HR/IR/ER**
- Provide basic ER/IR advice to managers and employees on NES, Enterprise Agreements and Awards, escalating to P&C Business Partner as required.
- Assist P&C business partner with any HR/ER/IR matters & investigations
- Assist in ensuring local and national compliance with current and new legislation is occurring.

**Employee Offboarding**
- Assistance in the employee termination process and communicating changes to relevant parties as required.
- Archiving of terminated employee files and documents.
- Keep offboarding tracker up to date

**Continuous Improvement**
- Assist in the delivery of the People and Culture Strategy, both National and State based.
- Assist in P&C training for leadership and/or staff
- Support People & Culture & State Manager with future initiatives.
- Provide ideas and improvements to current People and Culture Processes, Procedures and ways of working.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**Qualifications, Certificates & Licences**
- Studying or completion of a Certificate 4 in Human Resources Management (or above).
- Mental health first aid training (desireable, not essential)

**Professional Experience**
- Demonstrated experience in Human Resource Administration or a similar role.
- Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
- Experience in answering basic HR/IR/ER questions
