About the role
The Data Privacy Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring Australian Red Cross manages its information, including sensitive information, in alignment with the requirements of the Privacy Management Framework.
**Day to day you will**:

- Support the Head of Privacy, Information and Knowledge Management to develop and implement the privacy management maturity pathway for Australian Red Cross.
- Work closely with the Information Security and Senior Legal Counsel in ensuring alignment with better practice principles for information security and adherence with all privacy related legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Provide advice and support to teams to ensure adherence with privacy related contractual obligations (ie. non-legislative).
- Assist staff to identify and manage privacy compliance obligations and privacy risks, including by supporting the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments.
- Support staff to implement privacy management measures, including by translating legislative requirements into standard operating procedures.
- Support staff to develop robust action plans to address any non-compliance with privacy management obligations.
- Build awareness and understanding of privacy risks and privacy management, including developing and delivering training.
- Maintain a privacy risk register and provide clear and effective reporting to senior management.

What you will bring
- Experience in privacy-related roles (e.g. legal, risk, cyber, audit or management background).
- Experience with compliance management. Enterprise risk or audit experience desirable.
- Proven highly developed organisational and time management skills. Project management experience desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a high level of empathy.
