**The Role**
The Directorate Navy Engineering (DNE) is seeking a systems engineer capable of contributing to the acquisition and sustainment of current and future electronic warfare capabilities for Royal Australian Navy submarines, combatant and support ships. The systems engineer will lead a small team of engineers in the provision of advice in the field of Electronic Warfare and Radar (EW&R), undertaking engineering activities when required. Under limited direction, the position is accountable for the provision of timely and expert engineering advice to Defence and Industry in support of the Royal Australian Navy.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

- Participating in engineering reviews, risk assessments and provision of advice on EW&R systems and related technologies.
- Contributing to the development of capability approval documentation related to EW&R systems for the Royal Australian Navy.
- Engaging, developing and maintaining professional networks in this specialist field.

**About our Team**
DNE is the Director General Engineering Navy (DGENG-N)'s primary support group in the provision and retention of specialist technical and engineering knowledge, products and services. Our engineers have the expertise to provide advice on a range of deployed electronic warfare and radar capabilities in support of Navy and the projects involved in the design and upgrading of systems within the fleet in order to ensure a seaworthy and mission ready capability at sea.

The Electronic Warfare and Radar (EW&R) Cell consists of Subject Matter Experts on naval electronic warfare systems.

The EW&R Cell predominantly operates in the capability development and acquisition phases of projects, and is responsible for the following:

- Engagement with stakeholders.
- Investigation of electronic warfare engineering concepts for use predominately in the maritime domain.
- Delivery and management of specifications and resources in support of the Defence material capability lifecycle.
- Investigation, analysis and reporting on EW&R engineering defects and requirements.

To perform in the role effectively, the general skills required include:

- Demonstrated understanding of Electronic Warfare and Radar.
- Demonstrated skills in building stakeholder relationships.
- Capability to manage, coordinate and lead delivery of complex tasks and be able to work under pressure.
- Demonstrably strong documentation and written communication skills.

These roles will require the applicants to be able to obtain a TSPV security clearance.
